August 19, 2019 - The Watershare General Assembly (GA) Annual Meeting was held in Yokohama on 12 July 2019, back-to-back with the 11th International Symposium on Water Supply Technology. The GA was attended by representatives from JWRC, KWR, KIST, PUB and WRC, and kindly hosted by JWRC.

Watershare presented at the 11th International Symposium on Water Supply Technology
July 25, 2019 - During July 9 to 11 Watershare member Japan Water Research Center (JWRC) co-hosted the 11th International Symposium on Water Supply Technology, with Yokohama Waterworks Bureau, with Prof. Shinichiro Ohgaki of JWRC as Chairman. This tri-annual conference was organized this year in Yokohama, supported by Watershare and other organisations. This conference was organized adjacent to the Watershare annual meeting on July 12, which enabled the Watershare members present in Japan to also visit and participate in the conference and the exhibition showcasing the latest developments in smart water solutions and cutting-edge technologies for water supply.

Cranfield University new Watershare member
June 27, 2019 - Cranfield University has joined Watershare. With this, Watershare expands its collaboration with a strong knowledge partner in the field of water sciences. Cranfield is a postgraduate British university, with world-class expertise, large-scale facilities and industry partnerships in technology and management research. Cranfield Water Science Institute specializes in water and wastewater treatment, water and sanitation in the developing world, water for agriculture and catchment management, as well as the human and governance aspects of water services.

Dalian University of Technology new Watershare member
July 25, 2019 - Dalian University of Technology has joined Watershare. Dalian University of Technology has developed into a multiple-disciplinary university of science and technology, covering natural sciences, economics, sciences of management, social sciences and applied liberal arts, with the science and engineering sectors remaining its major fields of devotion. The university is located in the coastal city of Dalian, in northeastern China’s Liaoning Province. Dalian University of Technology is a national key university administrated directly under the Ministry of Education of China. Dalian University of Technology is also one of the Big Four Institutes of Technology in China.

Thermal energy from drinking water and sewerage water
project - Heating is a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. Using sources of heat from the environment instead of burning fossil fuels will reduce the emission of greenhouse gasses. Drinking water and sewerage networks are potential sinks and sources of thermal energy for sustainable space cooling and heating of buildings. An application of the SIMDEUM® model is to predict the input of thermal energy into the sewer network and to assess the impact of a heat extraction from the drinking water network.
